All our traps catch moths alive so that they are ideal for survey work, population counts and collecting fertile females for breeding programmes.
We strongly recommend using an earth leakage trip (E7584) or similar device for personal safety while using a mains-operated trap.

Robinson Mercury moth trap

One of the best moth traps for quantities and species of moth attracted. The base and cone are made of high impact moulded ABS plastic and the trap is rustless, robust and light. Supplied complete as illustrated with all electrical fittings, lamp and rainshield as well as 50m flex on a handy cable winder and operating instructions.
Designed for 200-250 volt operation, a transformer can be used to adapt for 110v supply.

Skinner moth trap

Designed by Bernard Skinner. A portable moth trap using the Robinson trap electrics. The trap consists of four sides of aluminium with perspex top pieces but no base so the trap should be placed over a sheet. The trap is dismantled very easily down to 48cm x 30cm.		Skinner moth trap

More powerful Heath and Rigid moth traps, designed to increase catch sizes with a greater light output than the 12V portable versions. The traps are mains operated so ideal for use in back gardens, but they can be made portable using an inverter and battery (see Accessories below).

This gives an alternative to our other 40W traps, which is very lightweight and compact. The sides are made of strong netting, and the trap is supported via four struts.
The trap is very portable, using an inverter into a vehicle or into a 12V battery of at least 24ah.

Gardner trap

Gardner trap

A large moth trap designed for surveying and observing with hinged interlocking roof panels. Contains the Gardner Light Bar - 2 twin 40W actinic lamps plus a single Halogen A 150W lamp mounted centrally. Operated together, the power of attraction and retention is increased.
The unit is constructed from special quality perspex which allows all UV-A light to pass through unimpeded. This ensures there are no shadows cast in or around the trap. The trap dismantles flat for easy storage and transportation. Like the Skinner trap, a sheet should be placed underneath the Gardner trap.
